با توجه به رتبه بندی وزارت آموزش و پرورش روسیه، دانشگاه فدرال شرقی روسیه (Far Eastern Federal University) یکی از پنج دانشگاه برتر این کشور است و در رتبه بندی اخیر دانشگاه های ملی، در رتبه دوم قرار گرفته است. دانشگاه فدرالی خاور دور تنها دانشگاه در شرق روسیه است که از سوی وزارت صنایع، علم و فناوری روسیه به عنوان دانشگاه علمی شناخته شده است. این دانشگاه بسیاری از دانشحویان بین المللی را که علاقمند به تحصیل در روسیه هستند را به خوذ جذب می کند.
