دانشگاه دولتی لومونوسوف روسیه (Lomonosov Moscow State University) که دانشگاه دولتی مسکو هم (MSU) از آن نام می برند در سال ۱۷۵۵ میلادی تاسیس شد. این دانشگاه از منظر معماری ساخت و پردیس دانشگاهی در میان زیباترین دانشگاه های جهان قرار دارد.دانشگاه لومونوسوف مسکو یکی از بهترین دانشگاه روسیه از نظر سطح علمی و علوم تحقیقاتی است که اعتبار بالایی هم در سطح جهانی و بین المللی دارد.
در میان فارغالحصیلان برجسته این دانشگاه، ۱۱ برنده جایزه نوبل و ۷ برنده مدال فیلدز قرار دارد. همچنین پژوهشگران و اساتید دانشگاه دولتی مسکو به دلیل نتایج علمی که به دست آوردند موفق به دریافت جوایز متعددی از دولت روسیه شدند که در طی سال های گذشته بیش از ۴۰ دانشمند از این دانشگاه موفق به دریافت ۶۰ جایزه لنین و ۱۲۰ جایزه دولتی شدند. دانشگاه لومونوسوف در بین دانشجویان خارجی که مایل به تحصیل در روسیه هستند بسیار پرطرفدار و محبوب است.
کتابخانه اصلی دانشگاه لومونوسوف مسکو یکی از بزرگترین کتابخانههای روسیه است. ارزیابیهای اخیر نشان میدهد حدود ۹.۰۰۰.۰۰۰ جلد کتاب در این کتابخانه وجود دارد. این کتابخانه سالانه به ۵۵.۰۰۰ خواننده خدمات رسانی میکند که بهطور میانگین ۵.۵۰۰.۰۰۰ کتاب مورد استفاده قرار میگیرد.
